Ruxton's Trading Post

Ruxton's Trading Post is located in an historic building that straddles Ruxton Creek. Ruxton Creek served as a landmark and route for Native Americans and early 19th century explorers.  One of those explorers was Frederick Ruxton and it seemed appropriate that we name our store after him.

Ruxton Avenue is the route to the Cog Railway Station and the Barr Trail Trailhead. Ride the Cog Railway to the summit of Pikes Peak or test your stamina on Barr Trail, a 13 mile climb to the summit.

Ruxton's Trading Post features Cowboy and Indian Antiques and Collectibles and Native American Art. Please browse our site or contact us with your wants.

Old Mine Cart, Mining Cart made in Denver

Here is a nice Mine Cart or mining car for hard rock mining.  It was made in Denver as indicated by the manufacturers identification tag.  It was made by A. D. Kenyon, Mining Contractors & General Machinery, Larimer & 2nd. Street, Denver, Colo.  This cart does not swivel or dump any longer.  The lower portion was repaired in a manner that causes it not to dump or swivel.  It would make a great yard ornament.

Ore Cart, Mining Ore Car, Mine Miner Gold Sliver
Ore Cart, Mining Ore Car, Mine, Miner for Gold ore Silver. For mining hard rock or hardrock. This is a bigger size and very heavy Card Brand ore car made in Denver, Colorado. It was used in the Victor and Cripple Creek gold mining districts. I would guess that this weighs 1500 pounds. I have sold several others in the 700 pound range and think this is so much heavier it must be 3/4 of a ton empty. The ore car is approximately 45 1/2 inches tall, the box is 32 inches wide and 66 inches long. There are some rust holes near the bottom of the box on the sides but the metal of the box is so thick that the box is not fragile in any way. The iron straps on the outside of the thick sheet metal box are 1/2 inch thick and 2 inches wide. This one does not swivel or side dump. It must have been lifted from the end to dump.
